All the hard work in training is starting to pay off and the newer players are starting to find their feet and making a significant contribution. In training you would have seen Phil and Stu focusing our boys to present the ball in the tackle and protect the ball and today it paid off as we had quick ball for our boys to run free and we scored some amazing tries. More pleasing was how the boys pulled together today tackling as a pack and rucking really well creating turnovers which was really pleasing as all boys wanted to win the ball at the ruck. The Game started well with our boys charging up in defence keeping in a line and not just tackling but driving them back in the tackle and contesting the ruck area which forced a turnover.  We quickly moved the ball wide for Dewi to cut through and put us ahead. We have asked the boys to work in pairs and a pair who were outstanding today was Piers and Joe, as they took it in turns to run with the ball with the other rucking the opposition out of the way creating quick ball which enabled Joe to power over. We started to click Ben got his angry face on and made some great tackles the same number as Piers which shows how much he has improved. , max and Charlie were hitting rucks as we have asked making sure we retain the ball, which was so important as we moved up the field passing out of the tackle, where next ruck Oscar spun the ball to Dewi who put Mack in space who I thought would be in the corner but for a great tackle by the Ath and they were 1st to the ruck I thought it would be a turnover but no Rueben from 20 meters behind Mack sprinted and dipped his shoulder and smashed the Ath player straight onto his back showing great courage and technique and earned individual effort for the high number or rucks he hit today. The unsung hero's for me today were the scrum halves who won multiple turnovers and moved the ball quickly when we were In attack creating the space, being Oscar, Jack and Lex who all made great runs but defensively they were like a rock, a great game boys. Dewi and Mack started combing well with Mack picking great angles to run onto the pass and both had great games both picking up bucket full of tries well done both. Second half we continued where we left off this time it was Dexter both knocking people out of the way in attack and defence who was supurb with Dex and Joe picking up top tackler/rucker of the day with Piers pushing them both close. We started moving the ball wide with Sonny using his speed to take us up field but was pulled up short at least 3 times and is starting to show his great speed and sidesteps with a good all-round game. Another making a mark was Corey who got into the game straight away where we moved the ball right where he powered up field, again and again making yards and was awarded with a great angled run to cross for his first try and was awarded making the difference award for his efforts. With Corey and sonny making some great runs from us spinning the ball wide and dewi and Mack spinning the ball out wide making the Ath move from left to right. Next came a pre planned move with Mack coming in for the short pass to draw the defence but Dewi spinning a wide miss pass to Sam who stepped in to slow the defence and then put on the after burners to score in the corner, I was now stuck on who to give try of the day too with all tries being so good, but what clinched it was a move 5min later taking ball wide and Samuels confidence now sky high sidestepped his way while running at full speed to cross again and clinching the award. Every player today was outstanding and fully deserved today win lets keep it up.
